All too often I’m reading some issues with equipment, vendors, etc. on the site.
I hope this is an appropriate place to say this but I’d like to give credit to a vendor where credit is due.
Once such company is CS Johnson Marine, manufacturers of marine hardware. We have five pelican hooks manufactured by this company in use on the boat. Three for hold down hardware of our dinghy on the extended hard top of our boat and two for use as quick releases to drop our stabilizing mast. Not inexpensive or cheap hardware.
Pelican hooks have a spring loaded pin to keep it in the locked position. One of the stainless steel springs broke rendering the pelican hook useless. We could have purchased a rebuild kit for $18 which includes more than just the spring that I required but it just didn’t sit right with me. A quick telephone call to the manufacturer was all it took. I could talk to a person who knew the product, was delightfully pleasant and wanted to help. What a great combination. In three days I received two replacement springs at no charge.
Good Quality products are never the cheapest upfront but over the long run I guarantee you, it is the secret low-cost alternative. It pays to purchase your products from very reputable companies like C S Johnson.
I wish all companies were this attentive to simple requests. Kudos to Sam and Johnson Marine for their excellent customer service!
