Cummins electrical system

Hi all,
On a cummins 5.9 BTA 250 hp engine (app 10years old) does any body know what the replaceable diode plug in the engine wiring loom is for?

A friend has motor that leaks electrical smoke and the diode seems to be the leak point.

Thoughts?

Sorry I don't know about the diode but I think Lucas Electric sells replacement wire smoke. I hear it's a real job to get it back in the wires.
