Newly acquired boat, dryer is in new condition. Looking for someone that knows how to repair them and deal with small spaces. The cabinet for the dryer doesn't allow much room. It was designed to be pulled out from the back of the cabinet. Anyone have great leads in Portland?

I'd start with a call to Dave at rocky point boatyard.
Likely he would know who to recc if he won't take it on.
And I think that's where you're moored for now, right?

You say it's new, but it doesn't work?

No it looks new. Original to the boat circa 1997

Try Jimmy Palmer of Palmer marine, he was my go to guy for just about everything.

You may not want to repair it yourself, but YouTube or other online sources can probably work you thru a repair.
I repaired my new washer and dryer and not an electrician.

Anyone you call may ask for the model #, make, maybe serial #, so have that ready. That will help to know if parts are available.
P.S. 1997 50/50 if worth repairing IMO

Learn the way of the Samurai Appliance Repair man....

Seriously, rocking a 30 year old gas dryer, repaired an oven, dishwasher, fridge etc with the advice there. Will also suggest if the parts you're interested in are common failure items for the model you've got.

All very good advise indeed. I'll make those calls. I have to be very careful due to a previous accident I have some compressed discs and have been told my doctor 25lbs is all I should be handling. This means no repairs to any system that requires more than that. I want to continue to keep walking so I am following his recommendation. Last year I was using a cane, almost unable to walk (at 45) so the reality was very clear.

First check the breaker. Some boats have an additional breaker located near the heavy current dryer.

Sounds like maybe you have an appliance repair issue rather than a boat repair issue. I’ve had good luck with Mike Flores 360-600-1998. He is mobile and came to my boat to repair the ice maker on my Navigator.

But before you spend a lot on this, realize that most on-vessel washer/dryers are terrible. What sort of regular use are you expecting out of it?
