I had the pleasure to do a repositioning run up Puget Sound this morning of a 80' foil power catamaran. This is the new sister ship of the boat I delivered a few years ago up the California coast.

The temps were below freezing and we had a dusting of fresh snow to make it a unusually crisp morning.

The pic below shows the boat running at 45.6 kts, the four 1000 hp Scania's were running at 65%

Your correct regarding the builder, the boat was number 2 on the list. The builders specs are a fully loaded boat. I ran completely empty in prefect conditions. These boats are absolutely impressive when you consider the fuel burn per seat at the speed they can travel. It's also amazing how much effect the incidence of the foil can change performance. The boat lifts about 2' on the foil and gains around 5kts vs the full down position. I have driven the first boat plenty of times and she is like a old land cruiser with a blown b8 vs a twin turbo porsche SUV, the new boat is a dream to pilot and you almost cannot hear the Scania diesels . All American is building another boat currently that is a stretched version that adds 25% more passenger capacity. I have now ran three of these cars and I can say they will put a big smile on ones face underway.. I have a great couple of videos from yesterday but unfortunately we cannot post them here.

That is impressive pace for sure.
Good to see NZ designs in the PNW.
Teknicraft is a kiwi design house that specializes in jet drive, foiling cats. The interiors tend to be more work boat than yacht.
If you want to go fast it's a good place to start.

Wifey B: My kind of boat. What was WOT?

Wonder about a 65' from them for the Loop. Darn, too wide to be practical for it. Maybe one just to enjoy and visit the Bahamas. I like it. Can't help myself. :D

They are a really impressive craft, All American marine has turned a number of cool versions of these boats out for many different uses. To my knowledge they only have done one pleasure boat. Also the Scania Diesels have been great motors so far.

You keep mentioning the Scania diesels, isn't Sea Change hydrogen fuel cell? Or are the Scanias running hydrogen?

Wifey B: Well, I picture a 65 with twin MAN 1900's or so using MJB jet drives. Is there a reason larger twins wouldn't be as good as the quads? I know Scania only goes up to 1150 hp. I don't know how large Hamilton supports. :)

Do you think they could finish to pleasure boat standards? :ermm:

I'm sorry for the confusion, Saratoga was the boat in my pics not SeaChange. On the list of links you had she is #2. I have not had any exposure to the hydrogen boat. It is a much slower boat I believe designed for a short commuter run. It has prop drives vs jet drives.

Great to see Scania getting more traction. So far I like mine.

Ah, there we go and the confusion was all mine. I looked at the AAM list, not my link list. It makes more sense now and yes, Saratoga and Chilcat Express are impressive.

I’ve seen Chilcat on the move in AK at near 40 kts and just shook my head in awe.

I was on Chilcat during the first speed runs when she was new, the builder had guaranteed a minimum speed that she would run. They tweaked a number of things and if I remember she hit the 48kts as designed. The bridge is horrible and the visibility in the bridge is really limited. Sound reduction has always been a issue on her as she is LOUD in the cabin. She doesn't handle very "crisp" either. River Gorge is the boat I did the multi leg delivery a few years back and she was leaps and bounds advanced in every way. Saratoga, the boat from Thursdays early morning run is amazing. Bigger, smoother, quieter, more capacity, more fuel efficient and the quality of the build has also been considerably refined. The company ( PSE) has another new build in the works to add to the fleet. It's been amazing to have a close association with the boats, PSE and All American Marine.

Its great to see these boats come together from the NZ designers, the parts sourced all over the world and the boat built right here in Washington

I will post a couple pics of the new build, she has been flipped and is scheduled to be splashed in July.
