Our Performance Trawler leaks exhaust on the exterior, midship out of the tube that runs along the hull. It creates black soot on the side fo the boat. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Do we have to remove the entire tube and replace a long gasket? Sorry, I am not sure what that tube is called.

Thank you!

Brand of boat? Pictures?

Sounds like normal exhaust soot coming out a exhaust tube tunning down the outside of the hull.

But without more info you can't expect anybody to really give you anything but guesses.

Picture

Sorry, I am new at this. We have a Performance Trawler, 1985. Here is a picture. The soot is past the 2nd fender. I do not know how to just insert the picture, so I have attached it.

Thank you,
Rhonda

I'm not familiar with your boat, but the situation does look odd. Is that the generator exhaust outlet?
If it is the generator exhaust outlet, is the generator water cooled? And is there water coming out with the exhaust?

It appears that the exhaust has been coming out dry. Is this the case?

look like you need to provide better picture this one is to fare :ermm:

The exhaust comes out the back of that tube with water. It isn't the generator exhaust. I will try to make that part of the picture bigger.
