I am looking to buy a couple of 2” adjustable fishing rod holders to mount on the vertical support posts on the transom of my 2004 Mainship 400.

I use Perko holders, well built and adjust to rail size.

Unfortunately, Perko doesn't make a rod holder with a bracket large enough to fit the vertical supports on the 400, and I don't think West Marine carries one that will work either. You will have to go to something that is higher end and made for a sportfisherman, like Taco: https://www.fisheriessupply.com/taco-marine-clamp-on-rod-holder


You will also have to carefully measure the diameter of the post as the bases are not very adjustable. They are expensive.


You could also have them welded on, but that is even more $.

Find out the actual diameter first. Be sure. If you don't have a suitable measuring caliper on-hand, there are printable diameter templates online, this was one that looks useful:

If something can't be found that fits the posts, what about something that could be adapted? Like find clamps with a platform/base of some sort and attach a holder to that?
