I recently bought a used Fortress anchor from a very active and I’m certain honorable forum user. Neither my wife nor I can find anything we may be overlooking. We have watched a few online videos and assembly does seem to be straightforward however regardless of which end we feed The stock through it will not go through the far clamp. We seem to be about half the wall thickness of the clamp away from success regardless of which end, etc. We sat the stock on a flat surface and see there is a slight almost imperceptible bend, and it seems to be on both ends which makes us think that is by design?
I am hopeful you have suggestions or can at least confirm we are likely correct because it should assemble much easier than this? Has anyone else dealt with this and if so what was the remedy?
Thanks in advance.

Call Fortress customer service when they open.

Supposedly super customer service and if it is a bad clamp or stock, they might just send you one (have some pictures ready to go) as the anchors have a lifetime parts warranty even though you are not the original owner.

Post the pictures first here and maybe we can help before plan B.

It will go together since I took it apart to ship it to you. It should just slide together and then install the clamps. Not sure what exactly you mean by it not fitting. Maybe put a photo or two of the problem. I already deleted the photos I had of it but I think I emailed you some photos of it assembled.

Pics to go with original post

A reply to my initial post pointed out that customer service and a lifetime warranty transferable with the anchor are most likely in our favor if need be. He also suggested I post some pics.

We have adjusted the flukes to improve the angle at which the stock would line up with the clamp, and other small adjustments but just can’t seem to get it quite where need be. The groove across the entire stock cannot actually go up on both sides of the top of the flukes because of the design.

You have the bracket reversed. See my photos. The stock goes through the bracket.

I don't see a slot on the stock (round cross bar) in his pictures. Could be either hidden from view or possibly a replaced piece?

Peter

There is a slot. Keep in mind that I took it apart to ship it to him.

Sorry I wrote poorly, the warrany is usually not transferable according to the website, I was just pointing out that normally is one and for a cheap bit of customer satisfaction and good publicity...maybe they will still honor it.

There is no need for the warranty. He has the bracket backwards as I said above. If he turns the bracket around it will work.

Success!!!!! Thanks

Commodave I began the post by stating I didn’t think for a minute you sent me a less than perfect anchor. Thank you for your patience and help on this! The same to you others as well.
I guess the New Years Resolution to not be a “ DA’ is already out the window. At least I got my wife to assist and between the two of us we didn’t think about reversing the bracket as it seemed the ends were symmetrical.

If anyone wants to start a betting sight as to whether or not we have the brains to complete the Loop I won’t be offended. ?

It was for general info, I don't like posting incorrect or misleading info for anyone viewing.

Don't be too hard on yourself. We've all done something like this. I wish my DA maneuvers were half this benign. What's really embarrassing is calling a help desk, getting agitated because they start troubleshooting with "is the power on?" And the power is not on.....

Not that it's ever happened to me

Happy holidays.

Peter

No problem, glad you got it assembled. We all have brain farts now and then. That is what is great about TF, there is always someone to help you.
