One of the two local municipalities which employ barges for the event announced the cancellation of the annual Fourth of July fireworks show due to concerns over COVID19 being spread through the crowds ashore. As would be expected, many boaters get out and enjoy the annual occasion. Not sure about the second city's intentions nor the other show out at Panama City Beach. Since the beaches are open, and they are so hungry for tourist dollars over there, my guess is they will have they show, but we shall see.

Glad to hear that’s going in the smart direction.

It will be interesting to see who else from wherever chimes in about cancellations. There are also sooo many spring and summer concerts scheduled.

As of now the 4th fireworks here in the metro Au Gres area are scheduled to go on. Our metro area is about 1,000 people... For the fireworks most of the people are on boats out on the bay so there are no social distancing issues. Very few people gather on shore for them.

Thank makes sense in a world with none.

Comodave,
How are people going to “social distance” on a trawler?
The only persons that board our boat now is “us”.

Here's one that makes NO sense. At the height of the scare, Florida restricted the distance between boats not in a marina to no closer than 50 feet and the number of people in the boat to no more than ten. HUH???? In March and April in the Carolinas and Florida we saw hundreds of boats out on weekends crammed with folks who PROBABLY were not all living in the same household as was true on our vessel.
