Ft Lauderdale marinas/boat yards DIY?

If I buy this 48 Defever I'm going to need a DIY boat yard in the Ft Lauderdale area to get her ready to take up to the Chesapeake. Anyone know of a yard with reasonable prices?

Glades boat yard is about 100 miles inland , across lake O , and is $20 or so a day on the hard.

+1 for Glades. Was there looking at a boat a week ago. $20 per day day gets you water and electric. Good travel lift and what looks to be competent yard hands.

As a side note, they have a long term storage yard with quite a collection of yard queens. They don't let you walk in the storage area unless you are with the boat owner or his broker. There was a 36 or 40 Willard in the yard a couple of rows over that had been there for several years. Didn't realise that the yard wouldn't give out information on contacting the owner or let me take a pic of the name and home port, until after I left the storage area. Would liked to have known if that one was for sale.

Did not save their yard price sheet. But I believe (don't quote me) long term storage was a 3 month minimum at $3 per foot per month plus haulout and relaunch. Broker I was with said that their only hurricane damage in the last 10 years was 1 snapped sailboat mast.

How would Glades compare with Indiantown for 4 months of hurricane season storage on the hard?


Indiantown has more professional staff , but is closer to the east coast.

Glades is better for its location .

Have you thought of simple wet storage ? Usually $200 a month about 5 miles from Glades in a Hurricane Hole.

Really looking for something in Ft Lauderdale or something closer to the ICW as the boats headed up to the Chesapeake

Will consider wet storage as we get closer to the time.
2 years ago, in Demopolis dry ended up cheaper because I had to do the bottom anyway.
