Has anyone had to pull the engine(s) out of a Grand Banks 36? Looking for ideas.
Thanks.

Looking for ideas how to do it or what to put back in? What is in there now?
Lehman, Perkins, Cat? Single or twins?

I have twin Lehman 120's. My question is any procedure others have used to get them out of the boat. I am beginning a refit of the boat, and while I have no immediate plans to replace the engines, I was thinking I might be able to do during the refit to make it easier when the time comes. i.e. hatch in the flybridge, etc.

Do not replace the engines unless they are SHOT. Those F.L.s are great engines stay with them.

A repower with new Yammers or equivalent will run you a minimum of $100,000. A 1973 Grand Banks is not worth the investment.

I hadn't thought about from that perspective. I was only trying to consider the mechanical aspects of removal. I should probably stop over thinking it.
Thanks.

I recently replaced the stove which just went out the center push out window after I removed it.

That got me thinking about the engines and other things. I came to the conclusion the house was built around everything and there is no simple way to remove an engine in one piece. Rebuilding in place works, but a new power plant will only go in when a hole is cut out.

Yea, I was looking at it thinking that the entire interior must come out and a hole cut in the fly bridge deck. As extreme as that sounded, I was wondering if anyone had experience with it. Thanks.

Side wall below window cutout, with window removed is all that is needed. I would not cut into the cabin roof.
