I think I have read most or all of the threads about the clutch and master/slave cylinders. Where would you estimate this falls in Boat Bucks? $1k-2.5k, 2.5-5k, $5k-???
Is it hard to find a marine mechanic who can do this? Do you really need a marine mechanic? Seems lifting the engine is required?

Having been through this twice, I can say that $5k is a reasonable guess. Could be a bit more now, since some parts will likely not be available (esp. slave cylinder) and have to be fabricated. Yes, the engine has to be lifted at least partially (i.e. the back of it). The mechanic that did mine built a "U-Type" frame of 4x4's over the engine hatch and used that with a winch to hoist the engine the small amount needed. While I used a marine mechanic, it seems to me that maybe any experienced mechanic could do the work. Perhaps use a marine mechanic to remount the engine and make sure that it is properly aligned with the shaft...
