Hello to all... My name is adam, I am 44, and have had boats all of my life, learned how to run a 31 bertram before i knew what a gas pedal or brake pedal was on a car. my father had plenty of boats, and passed the disease to me. most of my knowledge is from fishing boats, and for the last 15 years, mostly twin outboard center consoles. i have fish many tournaments offshore for many years.
i am out of that now, and no longer fish. i have plenty of friends with nice offshore boats that i can go fish on. i have restored an absolutlly gorgeous 1976 mako 20, and just like to cruide to the barrier islands of coastal Ga on the weekends and grill and chill.. being divorced, it is usually just my girlfriend and myself. her kids are 12 and 15, mine is 13, so we are well past the crumb grabber stage. the kids sometimes go, but it is mostly just us. we also like to go to dine at restarants on the water.
it is my dream, always has been, to live aboard a nice boat. now i am making my plan. i am renting out my house and making someone else pay the mortgage, and bills the go with it. i am going to move in with girlfriend at her house, no charge, and start bank rolling money. hopefully 50K in 2 years. then, i plan to use this money as a downpayment on a nice trawler. i am very handy, so I am planning to do most all M&R myself.
the dream boat, is a 39 kadey-krogen. love the salty lines, the "krogen back porch", and the walk in engine room....
i am also planning to look hard at a nordic tug 37, american tug 34, and a great harbour N37. but my heart is set for the KK, a true bluewater cruiser, even though alot of my time will be spent inland... budget shpuld be around 300-350K, max. the KK barley makes it in budget, but it is big enough for 2, and that is all i need. any input on this would be greatly appreciated...thanks!!!
