Hey All. Wanted check in here and say ' hello'. I think I'm gonna be on here quite a bit for now on trying to gain as much knowledge as I can.
I've had my 79 35ft CHB for quite a few years now. She's my cabin on the water. Don't get out to the boat as much as I'd like. Unfortunately. Anyways I'm headed out there real soon. The boat has been sitting for years. Lots of work needs done and am currently trying to get electrical figured out, with my limited time on the boat. Planning a two week trip. Anyways looking forward to this trip and hope will be productive. I'm trying to do all I'm capable of on my own so I'm sure this forum will be handy.

A rarely used 40 + year old boat is not ready for a two week cruise anytime soon.

You need new electronics, new batteries, new fuel and a change of filters and engine oil. My guess is that you need to spend those two weeks in the bilge.

I thought he meant a 2 week "fix, service and repair" trip.

Hey Pete. Yeah never mentioned going on a cruise though I wish I was at that point! Nope...but the obviouses you mentioned need some attention. Been working on already on last trip.Got new batteries going on old Mariner charger hoping to replace soon. Some electronics will need replaced. Not all. Yeah I need figure out what to do with about 200 gallons of diesel I know needs replaced. Will update as time goes.on. Anyways...I plan to update when I get to the boat in few days hopefully. That was intent of first post as simple as can be with a small screen and big thumbs. Thanks for saying hey.

Look forward to your progress, we are caretakers of a 1977. Luckily we are still able to cruise it while doing maintenance and improvements.

Hers a quick pic of my baby. Hope they show up okay.
As for second pic...anyone know the name of these bars? What is purpose of them? Hard finding info on them on books. Appreciated!

I see terminal strips for your electrical connections and hydraulic lines for your steering.

Terminal strips serve as connection points for wiring looms and the breakers,
switches, instruments, power busses, etc. It is the approved way to deal with
all the connections that need to be made to electrical stuff.

Over time you might label at least the most important wires and maybe make a list.
When you see disconnected wires it would be good to figure out what they went to.

Great info Knotyet...appreciated. I'm currently trying to trace all the wires and label as I go along. It's a task for sure
