House Paint on Boat - Removal ???

I made an offer on a trawler. One of the things that made me bid low was that there*is what appears to be house paint on the cabin exterior. Or at least that is what it looks like where it is chipping. I am not a house painter so off hand I dont know if it is oil or latex base.

Anyway, what would be the easiest way to remove it? Sanding?, stripping? scraping?

I wont feel comfortable painting $150/gal or more paint, over house paint.

If you know what paint you're going to use, buy some of the thinner recommended, soak a rag with it and tape it to the existing old paint. After a couple of hours you'll know if you want to paint over it.
Best bet. Sand it off.

Any paint stripper will work, messy but just labor.

Less messy might be the removers that come spread on a sheet of paper. Stick it on & wait, works great on bottoms too.

Sanding is a good option but could be time consuming. The only way to know for sure is to do it.

I use industrial stripper all of the time and I know it will work, but on a boat, it could get quite messy.

I have never tried the removers that come on a sheet. That might be the easiest way.
Do you have any brand names?
