- 44 1978 Thompson trawler
Figured I'd jump in and say hello. I'm new to the Forum. I am a retired mechanic and in the process of building / rebuilding I should say A Thompson trawler 44 1978 single screw Ford Lehman 120 since I acquired it I have replaced all the heat exchangers oil coolers purrs like a kitten but the hall was neglected. . this is not my first Build rebuild I do all my own fiberglass work and speak fluent Detroit Perkins Cummins Yanmar as you learn pretty quick I don't write so good and I don't use periods and commas and all that stuff working full-time since I was 14 years old didn't finish school but I really enjoy boats and cruising. I've been known to think outside of the box on regular basis hopefully get to know a few of you very interested in the Thompson trawler 44 and learning more information about it it's on the hard right now and I've stripped everything down to the bear glass replacing the through hull fittings and the Gate valves . I really enjoy cruising 2019 run a trip from West Coast of Florida to Elizabeth City North Carolina hung out there for a while 280 Chris-Craft repowered with a single screw Yanmar 4 L H Ste 230 horsepower. So far I've just brought the Thompson 120 miles home but really enjoyed it whole lot more room than I'm used to. whole lot bigger to paint the bottom 2 now she's out of the water I'm about three-quarters of the way into the bottom job seems like it's a hundred and two feet long
