I have the older 61040-4001.
All replacement motor /clutch assemblies list 4002 and later.
Has anyone tried to install the currently available assembly in the older housing?
It looks like it should fit from the pictures but the devil is always in the details.

Outside changing bulbs, I’ve never been able to repair any of those cheaper than replacing them.

Turtle Blues, did you try the newer assembly in your searchlight? I have the 12v version, 61040. Can only find the new assembly for a 62040. Last effort before just replacing the searchlight.

No, I never got any further with that project. Put it in a bin in the garage until I come across the later version to compare. Good Luck with yours. If you try the later one let me know if it fits.
