As I examine the installation for solar panels and a MPPT controller, it strikes me there is duplication in the cabling, sensors, monitors and displays for the Magnum inverter charger and the MPPT controller. Surely there is an opportunity for Magnum or third party to make a black box add-on that ties in with their existing installations that provides the MPPT control? Just saying...

Ummm, why did'nt I think of that.

One thing I must add, is that my cheap $30 each for two 20 amp Chinese controllers have done a great job for the last two years.
And I don't like all my earth apples in the same basket, as now they give me a third and fourth way to check battery status.
 
I agree that redundancy is good. Also check out Janice's experience with CCC's (cheap Chinese controllers) in an adjacent thread.
