I'm at Atlantic Highland in Sandy Hook trying to figure out what to do cause of Irene. No internet - phone only (817-789-7529). Everyone here says leave or pull the boat. Yard is booked up completely. 2 options - see if I can get up to Great Kills Harbor (we're actually headed to Maryland) for a mooring or get around to Manasquan during a weather window forecast for tomorrow. Any local knowlege
as to the best option? I need to make a decision by early tomorrow AM. Thanks

So if you have no internet, how did you post and how will you get info if anyone posts here? I would suggest you plan to haul the boat. Have you tried Sandy Bay Hook Marina for a haul out? Chuck

I'm doing this all by phone. Marina yard is booked solid with local boats no time/room for transients.

If I had satisfactory ground tackle, I'd head up Manasquan River till it gets skinny. You'll be passing some marinas on the way up. There's some islands to hide behind, maybe even tie to. Keep in mind that the current is going to push you out of there big time once the rain starts. If I didn't have confidence in my ground tackle, I'd head for the mooring at Great Kills. I'll do an SMS to your phone number.

Thanks for all of the advice, phone calls, texts, etc. I scheduled a haulout for tomorrow AM at Lockwood Marina - Raritan Bay. Insurance pays for most of it! The Towboat US guys were very helpful here - the Atlantic Highland people - not so much.

Glad to hear you will be on the hard. (with chains between the stands) I'm sure that you had some anxious moments finding a place for your boat. Good luck!
