We always travel with our dog and African Grey parrot on our trawler. Now we are upgrading to a larger vessel and plan on living aboard for months at a time. Question:
Does anyone know if they make bird cages with wheels you can "park" to prevent rolling while underway?

We always use a smaller cage for short trips but the bird needs her regular size home for longer stays. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Rick

PS: We are considerate pet owners and don't allow dog to bark when we are gone and we keep the bird inside in the evening :) We also pick up pooh!

What, you don’t let the bird have free run of the boat???

I've never been brave enough to own an African grey; always leery of being outwitted by it.

A friend has one who has mastered calling the dog. Perfect imitation of the master's whistle followed by: "Furpo! Get in here!"

You could put locking wheels on the cage or use bungee cords to hold it in place if it looks to get rough. If the cage has plastic wheels it wont matter if they lock or not so be sure you have rubber wheels.

If you find a cage you like that has wheels, Harbor Freight has a large assortment of wheels that lock. Maybe a retrofit of wheels?
