1984 6354 NA, runs fantastic, 5000 hrs, new to me this year. Hauling out for winter and going to remove/inspect/replace? the exhaust elbow. Looking for sig. corrosion etc. What do I call gasket #1 and #2 when I order? and what is the plug at the end of the elbow called? and used for? hope the pictures are clear, thanks
Just looked at the pic and what is the rectangular piece between gasket #1 and 2 called, elbow is below the 2nd gasket?

I'm a shade-tree mechanic at best so don't read too much into it, but I've never seen an elbow like that on a Perkins. Looks like it's cast iron?

The plug is almost assuredly a drain plug, though I would expect it to be lower on the housing. But the fitting is a standard NPT (threaded pipe) plug available at any hardware store.

The gasket on the engine side will just be a standard Perkins exhaust gasket. I believe they are copper but its been a long time since I replaced one. I'd bet the other one is the same gasket so order two.

What kind of boat is this on and where are you located?

Peter
