I have a question. I a redoing the entirety of the inside of my boat. I was wondering what people normally do for the finishes on the walls? Mine was quite dated, so not useful as a guide, and I am now down to plywood sheets. I was thinking about doing a vinyl beadboard for the bottom half and then using a sailrite vinyl for the upper half. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The flooring is bamboo. cabinets are a white finish. Countertops are a granite, and shower/bathrooms are marble walls and floors. The walls will be for two stairwells, two bedrooms, and a living room.

Curious on ceiling finishes as well.

I would like for it to have a high-end finish/appearance.

Thank you in advance.

I think that depends a lot on the styling of the boat and the preferences of the owners.

On my 42' Californian when I redid things I used mahogany veneer to match the existing wood.

In my current boat, a 42' Hardin, I used v-groove tongue-and-groove mahogany and Sapele trim in the galley and that textured FRP board in the head, also to match existing.

The prior owner of my 42' Hardin replaced the vinyl ceiling with textured FRP and it looks nice. There are no seams as the ceiling has exposed and trimmed beams that break up the ceiling into sections smaller than 4' x 12' panels. He also replaced some vinyl covering the hull in the staterooms with carpeting. It also looks nice.

One of my neighbors painted all of the wood in their forward staterooms white with rattle can paint. It changed the look, but made it look much brighter and very clean. I like nice wood better, but his wood was stained -- and he preferred the bright look to the classic one, anyway.

Different strokes for different folks.
