Apology for grammatical errors, text is translated with google translate.

We (my two sisters and I) got the boat inherited from our parents, but we ourselves are not boaters and therefore have no interest in the boat service. Our parents have bought the ship about 25 years ago and have always maintained it in their lifetime and have it repaired by specialist companies (shipyards). The boat was in Holland for a long time (Lemmer, therefore no salt water) and was stored there every winter in a hall and checked for damage and repaired (anti-fouling renewed, teak deck renewed, GfK completely painted, etc.). There are still a lot of high bills, so the boat was always very nice to look at and technically perfect (radar, echo-solder, autopilot, etc.), also the engines ran always flawless, since they are not really broken (6 liters displacement at 120 hp, speed max. 2,500 rpm!).

As we did not have any interest in boat trips as mentioned above, and our parents were less and less able to take care of the ship and could not go to Holland anymore, the boat was brought back to Germany and was located in Münster on the canal A marina, so the journey is shorter. Unfortunately, the ship was neglected, since even this short journey for our sick parents was no longer manageable, or even the maintenance was not carried out by the missing shipyard anymore. It is then unintentionally (as my parents have not gone there anyway) rainwater leaked through a leak in the teak deck into the boat and has damaged almost all wooden panels. We only noticed this when our mother passed away at the end of 2016 and we looked at the boat because it is now our property.

The boat consists of GfK, but the interior construction is almost completely made of wood and wood reacts very badly to moisture, so that the main damage occurred here. The wooden floor (parquet) still looks very good, but the wooden furniture and window frames are not. Thus, one would have to renew the complete interior construction or re-laminate the wooden cabinets and frames. The engines should not cause problems, just like the steepening and the already twice painted GfK is by good cleaning and polishing again in good condition (we have tried in various places).

I hope I could explain a little why we want to sell the boat and what work to do. Of course it is not mobile in the current state and would have to be towed from Münster or repaired in Münster, here it has already been about three years under a tarpaulin on dry dock.

We had the boat yes against bid and this is currently at 25,000 EUR, which we find, however, to low because these types of ships (size and construction) in a functioning used condition (same year) for 120,000 - 180,000 EUR are traded and it It is not to be assumed that one has to put 100,000 EUR into the processing, as mentioned above, mainly woodwork (carpentry), which is either carried out by a self-employed person or a suitable joiner / carpenter, a special boat builder is not necessary. We simply lack the time to finish it ourselves and then sell it, even commissioning a carpenter costs time (control, meetings), which we do not have, so we decided to sell it, but not for very small money , Since such a ship, in size and possibilities is difficult to find (across Europe we have found two similar trawlers).

We think it is a great opportunity for a hobbyist to buy such a large ship with huge space and inexpensive technology, even if you hire someone for the restoration, you do not get an equivalent ship for the money ...

Best regards

Welcome to the forum. I can see by your post the predicament that you find yourself in but I am not sure if you trying to sell your boat on the forum or are looking for any advice or information or maybe just telling us an interesting story. Perhaps you could clarify? If you are trying to sell it then obviously a lot more information and pictures are necessay. Good luck!

Pictures, length, width, draft would get you better comments. I am a former shipwright. It is very easy to get 100,000 dollars, pounds, euros into any wood boat with water damage that probably includes dry rot. It would be in your interest to get the engines running. A non operable vessel is worth much less than one that moves on its' own. It allows a bigger market of people to consider the boat. 2 120hp engines don't make a very large vessel. The electronics are now older and may be obsolete.
However much spent in the past in maintenance doesn't have value now.
As an example, my current 1942 wood boat was neglected for years. Since buying, I put 10-20,000 USD a year into repair and wood replacement. That is almost all materials alone. I am well over $100,000 in costs.

It looks like a Pacific 38 trawler (or a Grand Banks?). And it looks like its needs a fair amount of work.

You mentioned a value of 120,000-180,000 Euro for similar boats in good condition. Sorry to rain on your party but I'm not so sure.
Here's one in the UK for 42,000 Euro.

Greetings,
Mr.o. Unfortunately, and with all respect to your parents, that vessel needs a LOT of restoration. Rather than cause yourselves grief, sell the boat for 25K Euro and be done with it. Sorry. Just my opinion.

Looks to me like an Albin 40' or possibly a 43'. Probably the same boat that psneld has except with twins.

I agree with RTF on taking the 25K Euros. Also, It would take close to that much to bring it by boat to the US and most likely would need expensive electrical work to use the American electrical system. You really need to find a buyer Europe and probably in Germany. We have a lot of cheap Taiwanese Tubs for sail here which are in as good or better condition.

It is an AMS Blue Ocean 40 trawler, the 25.000 EUR are also negotiable, last year I have seen exactly the same boat for 145,000 EUR on the Internet, but this ad is no longer available.

Ok I think there was a misunderstanding about your post. You are asking 25000 Euros for it, is that right?
Because reading your initial post it looks like you are refusing 25000 Euro and asking 100000 Euros.

Or maybe I am the one that is wrong it is also possible :D

Greetings,
Mr. o. I have no idea what the boat market is like in Europe but here are two Blue Ocean Trawlers for sale in Europe.

Blue Ocean Trawler 45 Used Boat for Sale 1979 | TheYachtMarket

Blue Ocean Trawler 36 Used Boat for Sale 1978 | TheYachtMarket

I'm very sorry and I do NOT wish to insult the memory of your dear parents but I say again, take the 25K Euros and move on. There is NO way "exactly the same boat" in the same condition as your parent's boat sold for 145,000 Euros last year. Honestly take a look at these listings and the prices that are being asked. Both are listed for less than 95K Euros. I do wish you the best of luck.

Of course the boat was not in the condition of our boat for 145.000 EURO! But if you buy this boat for 25.000 EUR, I do not think that you have to invest 100,000 EUR to bring it into the state as the 145,000 EUR boat was ...

My English is not so good, so I translate it with google translate and therefore there can be many misunderstandings here ... We have a bid of 25,000 EUR and I wanted to know through this forum whether this is a good price or if someone from the forum offers more because we think it is worth more ...

Greetings,
Mr. o. Ahhhh...I apologize for my misunderstanding. Yes. 25K Euro seems to be a reasonable price. So sorry again.

Condition sells the boat. Every month the boat is not actively maintained is equivalent of two months behind. You mentioned your parents where no longer able to maintain the boat. I've seen incredibly valuable boats turn into incredibly cheap boats with less than two years differed maintenance. For a non boater to see this is nearly impossible.

With no other information, photos of its condition today, it's tough to say. However I will say with very high confidence that if you are not a boater and drag your feet don't be surprised if the next offer is €15.000 or less. Boats are very expensive to maintain properly and even more so to fix back up.

Good luck and I'm sorry for your loss.

Edit: as soon as I posted this I saw the pictures above. Yes, €25.000 seems like a very reasonable offer to me. You should take it in my opinion.

There are not so many trawler style boats around in Europe. Therefore prices are higher than in America. (for good condition boats)

For ships in this condition there is still a market in Europe. But then you can expect a ridiculously low offer.
25000 euros is not a crazy price for this ship in this condition.
For the same amount you buy a standard European cruiser which is in excellent condition.

All I can say is that you can get rid of all loose rotten and stinky parts. Other interior parts can be paint white to hide ugly spots. make sure the engines run good and the exterieur is nice on the eye. give it a wash and sand all wood on the outside. this will bump up the price a bit with minimum effort.

(If this had been a few years earlier, I might have been interested)
I wish you good luck

My opinion: take the 25,000 EUR... and be thankful.

This is the critical part. It WILL take more, likely much more than EUR 100,000 to get into good condition. That's why people are saying accept the EUR 25,000 offer.

Just get a local boatyard/shipwright to give you a cost estimate. Until you have direct experience you have absolutely no idea how fast the bills add up and how much money a boat with deferred maintenance will cost. No need to ask me how I now know.

ollko, I sense the family attachment but you need to be objective about the boat. To do that, put yourself in the position of a potential buyer. The boat needs major renovation and restoration, if you have someone willing to pay 25000Euros to take on the project,I encourage you to accept it.

The moisture damage in the pics looks easily fixed. The rest of the boat in the pics looks pretty sharp. I think you could do better than 25k euros.
