I'm swapping out a 45# Bruce claw anchor with a 55# Rochna Vulcan. Rode is all chain 3/8" G3. The chain throat is 0.62".

I'm thinking about using a Crosby G209 7/16" shackle that has a 0.50 pin and overall width of 2". WLL is 3300#.

The pulpit roller has a pronounced "V" shape. I've occasionally had problems with the Bruce getting aligned properly. I'm a little concerned because the shackle is 2" wide it may tend to turn the anchor causing the shank to get caught in the roller assembly.

Aside from a swivel [I won't use one] what options are there to achieve smooth operation and maintain a WLL above the chain [2650#]?

Thanks in advance.

Use a Crosby G209a instead. They've got twice the working load for a given size.
