Today I replaced my Rule a Matic mercury float switch circa 2008 in my shower sump box. The new Rule a Matic non mercury float switch (circa 32.00 USD) looks ALMOST the same BUT the footprint screws are about 3 mm off the old footprint which makes it impossible to use both screws or make a leak with a new hole in the plastic sump box so I used only one screw.
Then, I noticed the float arm is about 4 mm longer than the old float switch arm so it hits the filter in the box and wont work with the filter in place.
The Question: did Rule make the switch different on purpose? or they don't really think about replacement or dont care? or they tried to make it the same but the guys in CHINA who actually made it messed up (or didnt care)?
