Sailboat to Trawler

Thinking of giving up sails and moving on with a trawler. After 47 years sailing both coasts of the USA and owning sailboats from 14' to 42' currently a Tayana 42, we are exploring the idea of a trawler in the Pacific Northwest.

We will have lots of questions as we proceed with our search. Currently looking at 42-46' tri-cabin, single or twin engine, stabilized, thrusters, etc. quick looks online bring us to Nordhaven, Salene, Krogen, Defeaver, Grand Banks. But we are open.

Lots here have made this transition...50 years sailing here. At this stage of life the trawler fits the bill perfectly..

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I've been an active participant on Cruisers Forum for years (screen name Tayana42) but knew this forum would be helpful as my wife and I consider the trawler option. I'll keep lurking and reading for now.
