First off, I usually don't watch a lot of TV on the boat but on some weekends like this past weekend , with all the rain we've had TV would be nice. I do have rabbit ears but want to use Direct TV like at home. I really do not want to spend a fortune for a KVH antenna($2500+)at this point in time, once I am able to spend more time on board I will spring for it. Now, Follow me TV is a little cheaper($795). Then they have the portable auto antennas ($500-$600) but has anyone just bought a portable antenna on a tripod($130) and rigged it up on deck? I understand that I will have to adjust the antenna when I am at different places but how affected are they by slight rocking while at anchor. The boat is very stable and most of the anchorages I use are very quiet. Just wondering if anyone else is using this setup. Would rather spend more on fuel this year and not stay at the dock.
