Tom, Crusty was thinking about adding active fins to Paradise when we saw them in Shearwater this summer . Are you thinking about upgrading ASD with these?

$$$

Last estimate for a couple fin stabilizers & gyro system, etc. installed was almost $ 40 K.

You cost will vary depending on your boat, accessibility, hull construction, reinforcing needed to be added, brand of stabilizers, etc.

Good luck.

Yes, we had them on our Sunseeker and loved them. They did everything the hype from the manufacturer said they would. I felt for sure it had to be exaggeration, but it wasn't. Then Sleipner/Side-Power is a reputable company with a long excellent reputation on thrusters. We can't speak to how they'd work with all hulls, but with a mid-sized planing hull we were thrilled. Had the on a Sunseeker Manhattan 65.

Thanks BandB. Ken, no fins for ASD. One too spendy and 2nd no room for them. Hard to justify the cost when we only have 1 open ocean crossing and 2 smaller crossing. We will just wait for good weather windows.

Sunseeker offers a choice of Seakeeper Gyro or Side-power Vector Fins. We chose the Side-power and we were always very happy with the choice. Next Sunseeker, assuming there is one in two or three years, we'll do the same. The person we sold the one we had to was amazed by the Side-power.
