I have a boat with an inverter and to switch from shore power to inverter there is a switch. The switch is fixed to a bulkhead and prevents a panel from being removed. I need to remove the panel and the switch so I can gain access behind. The only problem is I can't remove the front part of the switch. I have pushed the ring with a screw driver but it won't budge and I don't want to break anything. Any ideas how I get the ring off please?

Does the small black collar in the centre not unscrew?

See what you mean - haven't tried that but will tomorrow (its night time in the UK). Thanks Gilbert

A pair of needle nose pliers will probably work.

some switches have clips, screws, or twist lock mechanisms on the back side of the panel. can you see behind it at all, or is it preventing the panel from moving ?

Are you sure it doesn't come out with the panel? It'd be awfully hard to install that without access to the back of it?

Just following up. Gilbert - do tell us what happened.

You have to get to the back of the panel, then there is a red lever on the bulk of the switch, rush it down and the main part comes off. This lets you get access to the nut (also at the back of the panel) soo you can take the front part of the switch off. You just have to get access to the back!

Thanks for all the help

Gilbert
