On the evening of our opening day, we were on board enjoying (finally) peace and quiet. Our cat Spanky, was sitting in a chair on the sun deck when he stood up on his hind legs and looked over the rail. This got the Sicilian's attention and she went up on deck just in time to see a Duffy (electric boat) smack the bow of the sailboat in the slip next to us, thanks to a sudden gust of wind. The two ladies who own the boat were aboard and we supplied a spotlight so they could assess the damage. The fiberglass had a dent through the gel coat. The Duffy guy stopped and assured them he would take care of it. This was on a Sunday and a glass guy showed up on Tuesday and did a perfect job of fixin' the bow. Not a sign of trauma. An opening day to remember.
