- 2012 Beneteau Swift Trawler 44
After years of intermittent readings from the stock 2012 "through-the-hull" transducer, I finally switched over to the Raymarine "hockey puck" type. This one beams directly through the bottom of the boat.
Here in SW Florida, where we often cruise in waters less than 25', the original equipment was losing the bottom as often as it found it!
I had heard from a dealer that Beneteau had quietly made the same change for their 2017 (and maybe earlier) ST 44's. I'm guessing that the original location was confused by some underwater air or turbulence?
I only have about 10 hours with the new ducer but the performance is much improved. I mounted it just aft and below the drive shaft flange on the starboard engine.
