What service, web sites, whatever, do you use to help*make your decision to make the crossing? In a slow boat the crossing can take*a while, so knowing the weather for 24 hours would help.

Someone out here must have a great site they use to help make the decision.

When we were in the Caribbean we listen to Chris Parker who did a daily weather net on the SSB. He also provides paid for weather. From what we could tell he was the go to guy for weather in the Bahamas.

We always tuned in to Herb Hilgenberg on the SSB - he's very accurate and regularly provides crossing info to the Bahamas.* He also gets very grouchy if you tune in, ask for routing info and then don't follow his advice.* Great entertainment value when he's talking to the offshore boats - especially the sailboats that won't use their engine to get out of the way of bad weather!*

Herb really is entertaining! "Southbound 2".
We used him for both trans Atlantic crossings last year. He saved us several days of potential misery and fuel use. If you do use him, please send him something at the end of your trip, he is
not sponsored by any gov't agency! His time commitment alone is impressive.

Here is one for wind and wave information, on the map click on the area of interest it should open with wind speed and direction forecast on the control panel below click on sea height for that information

have a great trip let us know how it is going.

All sounds like good stuff. I'll get to work and check them out.

Just from FL to the Bahamas , NOAA is all you need.

Even a slow sail boat gets over in 10 hours , that's a pretty easy weather window to find.
