Whale Solid State Switches

I have in a number of places Whale solid state level sensors (BE 2003 or 2006) one with delay one without, delay is on gray water, non delay on bilge pump. They work fine, when they work, however seem to fail about every three or four years. When they fail, they might not run at all, or run continuously. Anyone had a similar experience? I am starting to consider them a consumable instead of a reliable part. I know I could SHIPALT the damn thing, can't seem to get to it with all the other boat mandatory maintenance list Thanks
