I'm looking to replace the clear vinyl roll up windows on my flybridge. Looking at Strataglass. Is 40 gauge to thick to easily roll up? - Thanks!

You can roll 40 gauge. I have used both 40 and 30 gauge on enclosures before. The 30 does roll easier.

Strata glass is not the product it used to be. It no longer has the clarity it once had. I would consider switching to Makrolon.

We've used Makrolon and like it, but those were rigid panels. I dunno that they make a roll-up?

Our roll-up panels were Regalite, 40 gauge. There's another product called O'Sea or something like that, might be roll-up-able. Probably other options...

I just replaced mine with O'Sea 40 gauge. Very clear and rolls easily. It has better online reviews than Strataglass whatever that's worth.

Did you notice a slight bluish tint with the O’Sea® 40 Gauge?

Just did this last week. Couple suggestions.... Take a look at Sailrite Plastipane 20 ga. clear vinyl. It's what we used. Extremely easy to roll up. You can buy it by the yard, 54" wide. It's inexpensive, $ 6.40 a yard. We did the whole enclosure ( materials ) for what 1 Strataglass pane would have cost.
Now, I do believe you get what you pay for.... But for a 1st time project it works. I was honestly amazed how clear it is. Easy to work with. And doesn't break the bank. We did the entire enclosure, including buying a sewing machine, for under $1100. Price having someone do it...
No idea on how long it will last. But at that price point we could replace it every couple or 3 years....
Any ?'s ask away.

Thanks for the info Solly. I'll probably have the local Mennonite canvas shop above Leonardtown do the replacement. He does good work at reasonable prices. I see you are in Solomons. Which marina? I'm in St Mary's at Tall Timbers.

If anyone is replacing vinyl window material in an existing panel most shops will only sew new over old and then cut out old leaving the raw edge of old around the edges.
I posted a procedure to avoid leaving any old material.

It takes a little more effort but worth the extra time IMO.

No. Hard to tell, the old windows were in bad shape, very cloudy and turning brown. So nothing to compare it to. But I don't see a tint.

We're at Calvert Marina in Solomon's.
