I recently purchased an Icom IC-M412 VHF with DSC for the upper helm. I have an older, but perfectly functioning Raymarine E80 MFD with GPS at that helm.

I'd like to wire the radio's DSC to the GPS using the NEMA cable from the GPS, but I've run into a snag.

There are two NMEA out wires on the GPS, Yellow (+) and Brown (-) but there is only NMEA lead on the VHF, Red (+).

I tried wiring the red radio wire to the Yellow GPS wire, but it didn't work.

Any Ideas?

Found this on a Google search, hope it helps.

The NMEA In and Out leads on the IC-M412 are shielded. The outer conductors are for the negative side of the input and output.

Connect a GPS Receiver for position indication. NMEA0183 ver. 2.0 or 3.01 (sentence formatters RMC, GGA, GNS, GLL) compatible.
Inner Conductor: NMEA IN (+). Connect to TX(+)
Outer Conductor: NMEA IN (-) Connect to TX(-)
