Timber southern cray boat
A guy turned up in the marina yesterday in this old timber X trawler (fishing boat conversion)

He had travelled down from the Town of 1770 .

Thats not so bad but he didn't have a main engine his propulsion was an old 25 HP outboard* strapped to his duck board.

This is a trip of about 150 Nm of which approx 100 is open ocean

She has great lines. What are his plans for her?

What kind of speed was he able to acheive with a 25 h.p. outboard?

The reason for asking is I have an old barge motor outboard At 25 h.p. thinking of using it for trolling.

Many boats under 30 ft used for fishing in the PNW have kicker/small out board motors off the stern as the main engine/prop go to fast for trolling*and for a back up engine.* I use a 4 HP on the run about as the 140 HP is to fast to troll.* So having a smaller engine on the back of a boat is common in the PNW.*

Guys I'll check on those points.
Steve I agree with you on her basic lines.
Depends on how the hull shapes up I think he is going to do her up for a live aboard.
It looked like she had not been out of the water for a long time so will wait for another day or so and maybe we can smell worms.
If not she may be a bit OK.
