Update on Caterpillar mechanic. I did find someone familiar with the older pre-computer engine in my MS 400. The problem turned out to be a plugged pre-filter. The company Zimmerman Marine, found the problem quickly, replaced the filters and billed me fairly. I would use them again.

The water tank gauge in my 2003 MS 400 shows empty at 1/2 tank. I'm sure its a sinking float on the sender. Has anyone removed the sender and if so how? It does not look like its held down with screws. I suspect it's either a quarter to half turn or held in by friction using the rubber gasket...

My Cat 3126 has developed an intermittent misfire that my mechanic in Florida thinks could be a leaking injector seal. He 1st suggested I replace the primary fuel filter which I will be doing today but I thought I would reach out for help anyway just in case the filter does not fix my problem.

The admiral is suggesting some non-slip stair treads. I thought there was someone on here selling a kit for MS400. I was thinking something like SeaDeck. Any suggestions?

I was reading another post about this same part and he said he also experienced it not working. He sent it back under warranty. I plan on testing BEFORE I run the wire. If its defective, I'll return for another.

This is a great idea. I did have had both tachs calibrated by different companies (a new tach I bought was repaired under warranty by Faria) and they both read the same. But confirming actual is best. Thank You.

The horsepower for the Cat 3125TA is 385 hp. I will be back on board in 2 weeks and will run again at full throttle to confirm what I said previously, both RPM and SOG. I should have my Speed through water instrument repaired by then and will report back that as well. Thanks for your reply

I just installed a TriData instrument to measure speed through water. I'm anxious to see what that says as well. But yes that needs to be considered. I am also experiencing the max speed at about 8-8.5 knots. Thank you for the reply.

I know this subject has probably been discussed previously, but I am getting ready to do a run and wanted to ask what you single engine guys are getting on maximum rpm and maximum SOG. I'm running a Cat 3126. I know props can make a difference and I don't have that information to share yet...

Update on the transducer. I finally installed the i50 Tri-Data instruments and did connect the transducer that was already on the boat from the previous owner at the suggestion of a Raymarine tech. The depth reading worked, the speed and temp were intermittent. I emailed Airmar about the issue...
