    Simrad AP with Furuno plotter

Yes I’m specifically talking about the cabling to the displays. Not being able to leverage an existing bus and just drop them on it is annoying. The main computer itself as you note supports NMEA 2000 which is great.

    Arco Zeus External Regulators

I've had an opportunity to pay around with a Zeus but not installed with anything useful, and not on my own boat. I agree with @twistedtree that the install requirements around temps and shunts (multiple!) are a bit limiting, and I'm tired of paying for $1000 regulators that I test that end up...

    Stern Tie rope length?

I stern tie at least 20 times a year, sometimes more, in the Desolation Sound/Broughtons and other similar areas. I like having a minimum of 400', and prefer 600' if I can swing it based on the size of the line, whatever you're rolling it up on, etc. I like that length so I can loop it around...

    Simrad AP with Furuno plotter

As many others have mentioned, combining the Simrad autopilot with your existing Furuno won't be a big issue. I actually have been recommending the Simrad line for the last few years due to the lack of a NMEA 2000 option from Furuno for larger boats. The 711C is a great autopilot, but having to...

    Keypower stabilizer issues

I did end up speaking with Dean and determined it was a simple fix to get things back up and running. I highly value relationships with vendors like this as well, and will definitely recommend them. I have Keypower stabilizers, thrusters, and a get-home hydraulic drive. The Keypower hydraulic...

For Sale: 21" outdoor Tru-Vu marine monitor, 1000 nits, multiple inputs, stainless steel

It would depend on the model of chart plotter. In many cases, using an external monitor with a chart plotter has limited functionality or has lower resolution depending on the type of connectivity. This monitor also just sold a couple of days ago!

    Keypower stabilizer issues

I did get a call back (on a Sunday!) from Dean @ Keypower, thanks @magna_6882. It sounds like there may be some hope yet to recalibrate things, or ship the brains to them to be repaired, which is a hell of a lot better than $12k for a new system....

    Keypower stabilizer issues

I have not! Thank you for the contact info - I shot him an email with all of the details and will hope for the best!

    Keypower stabilizer issues

Sounds like this vintage Keypower control head / control panel lose their minds after a while and start behaving like this. The "best" option is to "upgrade" to a newer control head and display, re-using all of the wiring, valves, etc. for a mere $12k. That's a bit more than I want to shell out...

    Keypower stabilizer issues

I'm having an issue with my Keypower stabilizers and hoping someone has a similar model setup and may have run across this before. I believe this is a 2003-ish model year unit/setup. There is a touch screen at the helm and a control box mounted in a central spot lower in the boat. Two...

    Bug report for mobile use

Someone should remove the app from the app store then :)

Should I consider doing my 3208 after coolers my 3208's myself??

I was quoted some pretty high prices for this as well, and have the same 435HP engines. I watched one on someone else's boat, and the challenges seem to be around the struggle with the hoses and pipes, and also replacing the seals and getting it back together well. Other than that, I am not...

    N2K test data

I second using a Yacht Devices device or a Linux machine. However, can you not simulate an alarm from the engine side? Unplug a sensor, or set a threshold lower to trigger something? Putting NMEA data on the bus is only going to test that NMEA data works, not the whole path from the engine....
