In the past day we've been working to update the forum to a new software platform and we've been offline. Welcome back! The new forum software is called Xenforo and there are some new features and functions.

LOGIN CHANGE:
Your account can be accessed by logging in with your e-mail address or username (that displays on posts) plus the password for your account. If you are having trouble with this and can't get through the password reset process you can click the contact link at the bottom of the page to reach out for help.

If you've set up a new account because you couldn't access your old one let us know. We can consolidate these and get you logged back into your old account.

There are many new features and I encourage you to wander around, test things out and then visit your profile and do some updating. Please keep in mind that changes and adjustments are still being made and so views will become more refined over the next few days.

Update your profile:
  • Consider uploading a new avatar (little pic next to your posts). The new site accommodates larger images and old avatars are looking a little tired. Avatars will automatically resize - choose a good one!
  • Update your signature if needed
  • Add a profile banner - larger image that displays on your profile page
Mobile viewing
The site runs well on small screens. Try it out on the road, and use your regular login - no app required. Set a bookmark for the site on mobile for fast access and look for push notifications (coming soon) to stay up to date.

Thread marking:
The forum remembers what you have already read and will display new unread threads as bolded or when you click into an ongoing thread, take you to unread content BUT:
You may need to Mark a forum "read" for this to work correctly moving forward. The conversion could not "remember" what you have already seen and so initially all threads may appear as unread.
To do this open a forum and look for the link at the top of the list of threads to "Mark Read"

There are many things still being tweaked and fiddled with and you will continue to see some changes but we wanted to get back online as soon as possible - thanks in advance for your patience.

Still under construction:
Library (manuals and docs)
New Forum 101 Thread (how to navigate the board and configure accounts)

Post up if you have questions - we're all learning

Wow, Not happy with the "improvements".. How do I get rid of the banner on the bottom of the screen???????
Too much crap going on

First a big thank you to the TF team for all the hard work getting things up and running with new software! I'm sure it was a huge effort. It look great. Looking forward to exploring the changes.

Now, unfortunately a complaint. Adds on the right side and on the bottom of the screen taking up far too much screen real estate. Closing the adds on the right side works for a bit but they come right back. Closing the adds on the bottom of the screen leaves a grayed out area. Never had this problem with the old software. Hopefully as things settle out this can be addressed.

I'm running Firefox on Windows 11. Both kept up to date.

Congratulations Janet & team, the new site looks great and easy to navigate.

Same issue here. Ads at the bottom that will not go away and video ad that keeps popping up on right side.

Running latest Chrome on win 10.

:(

Looks great! Looking forward to learning how the new features work. Real glad to see y'all kept the header image!

We're working on the ads issue - please be patient.

For what it's worth, I'm using the latest FireFox (on Win10) and I am getting NO ads anywhere in TF ...thus far.
Maybe it's because of my non-US IP address??

Once we have these adjusted - logged-in members should see ads over the right sidebar only.

Not logged-in folks will see a lot more advertising just as before.

Janet, do our past subscribed threads carry over to the new format? Thanks, Scot

Here's a link to your watched threads: https://www.trawlerforum.com/watched/threads

You can configure your settings in your profile and see the full list just under the upper nab bar (look for small links)

Thanks for all your hard work!

This is frustrating. It's like having to learn a foreign language to explain what I want from the guy doing renovations in my house.

Ok, I can't seem to find the Private Messages. Did all those saved PMs evaporate?

It appears that you can either jump to the first or last post. One thread I rolled back and see I missed several posts.

This happened on the old site when several people posted at the same time, not the case I am referring to.

How do I remove the right side bar to get full width?
Not currently an option although on narrower screens (phone, tablet) it disappears all by itself.

Your tip of narrower screen solved it. I went to browser magnify screen and the right bar went to the bottom after last post. Bonus, the print size is easier on the eyes

Is there a "Today's Posts" button? Makes it easier to find a current thread that hasn't had a new post in the last 24 hours.
