I have two Vacuflush heads, and a few days ago one would not flush.. Motor would not turn on. I suspected the vacuum pressure switch was the most likely culrprit. Sometimes there is an advantage to having two of something. It wasn't practical to swap the entire switch assembly, but I was able to swap the little solenoid at the top. Much to my relief that established all I needed to replace was the black solenoid unit in the pic.

Searching vacuflush parts online I could only find the entire switch unit, priced at several hundred dollars. Fortunately google search on the part number on the black solenoid located a number of Australian suppliers for it. I did think that $75 was expensive for something like that, but it sure beat buying the whole assembly at 5 times the price. Much to my surprise the part arrived at my home in less than 24 hours, even coming from interstate! A screwdriver and the new (made in Indonesia) part was installed and the head was operational again.

I count the whole exercise as a big win, a rare one for these units! Vacuflush parts always cost and arm and a leg here....

Good job. But don't worry, soon the post from the vacuflush hater will post that you should replace the whole system with a marine elegance. Bad mouthing vacuflush is his lifes goal

Hey, we'll all gladly take a big win when it comes to fixing our boats!

Ha, just spent 2 days working on my dual system. aft head would not flush. blocked hose? Well kind of. the hose was full of rock type substance. So I replaced all the duck bills, pump plugger, aft head seals. I did replace the vacuum with on the aft head.

I was surprised by the rock material that was plugging the hose.

I buy all my head parts from Marine Sanitation.

You are probably not using enough water to flush. We had the same issue and now when we flush, we always add a second flush of just clean water after the pump stops running from the first flush.

Good for you! I have saved a fortune over the years that the internet has existed by doing what you did. It's typically really easy to find and buy components instead of entire assemblies, these days.

I did ample research and installed VacuFlush heads for the boat 15 years ago when I had it built. They performed as advertised without odors ever since. However, I did tire of the contunual maintenance involved with them. I have just changed them out for Marine Elegance heads this month.
