Back in high school a friend of mine replaced the drivers seat of his '67 Bug with a lawn chair. Seemed cool at the time and saved a trip to the junk yard to look for a real seat. Today, I am thinking about replacing the squeaky and wobbly swivel seats on our fly bridge with something like you see in modern center console boats. Where would one look for such a thing? I plan to do the installation, but I'd like to find one ready to bolt in rather than fabricating one from scratch.

Miami. Lots of scraped boats from the hurricanes.

I figured there was a source, but driving around looking for salvaged boats is a tough fit in my schedule. Where would one start?

I just googled “boat salvage yards south florida” and it came up with a site that lists the 8 best salvage yards. I would call them and ask if they have some center console helm seats. They may be able to refer you to some source. Likely they can send you some photos to preview before you travel to see them.
