    Storm anchoring

Quick question When anchoring out and a guickly approaching storm dictates that it is safer to stay anchored than running to a safe port. Do you guys idle an engine just incase you need to move and don’t want to risk the engine not starting? Thanks. Just compiling info for my knowledge.

    Spacer heater

What are your thoughts on using a portable space heater in your boat to keep the air dry? On my previous boat I used a portable spacer for 15 years to keep the dampness to a minimum. I had the heater on a safe non combustible surface with the thermostat set on a setting that was low enough to...

Have a 1997 350 both Tachs are sweep hand with a small digital hour meter in the lower portion of the tach. The port tach is losing the digital display. Sometime I can barely read it. Other times it is not visible. This is happening to both the upper and lower helm stations. Just on the port...

    Wire butt splice

Tried the new to me butt splices that have a ring of solder and also is a clear heat shrink. No crimping. Slide the two ends into each other, slide the splice over the bare wire then heat till the solder melts and the heat shrink shrinks. Installed a new bilge pump and float switch with these.

    Bad ground starboard fuel gauge

Mainship 1997/350 Fuel gauge bounced around when I bought the boat 3 years ago then stopped registering. Figured a poor ground. Cleaned off all connections at the sending unit and anywhere I could find. No go. Went under the dash and applied a jumper from the instrument hot lead to ground ...

    Heating

What do you use for to heat the interior of your trawler when you are on the hook or a mooring away from shore power? My heating is a unit incorporated with air conditioning and needs shore power or the generator to operate. Fall, winter, spring boating gets pretty cool sometime.

Good Morning I have a freefall windlass on my Mainship 350. Deploying the anchor is always freefall. No other option. Flag etiquette

Good evening My trawler has a single mast on the flybridge on which the radar is mounted. It has a spreader with a Starboard and Port halyard. Still new to me Mainship 350. Started running the air conditioning during our recent short heat wave to test them out. Ran/worked really well. My question is does the water pump cycle or is it supposed to run continuously? Mine ran for an hour then shut off. I was on the boat for only a half...
