We’re down to just this little skiff. Life is much simpler now. It’s 50 years old, plywood and mahogany. We’ve been getting her slicked up for the summer.

Looks pretty slick to me... :) :)

Reminds me of my childhood, sporty classic.

Neat! Here we have similar timber boats from that era, usually with a single cylinder inboard, called a putt-putt, because of the engine sound.

Probably a mid 60's model. I have a slightly older AlumaCraft which I power with a rebuilt 35 hp 1956 Evinrude. It is a little overpowered due to it's flat bottom, goes to fast and hits the tops of the waves hard. I will repower it with a 1956 Evinrude 18 hp, with electric start.

Those old boats look best with old motors on them.

Looks nice. This style of skiff tend to be much lighter and have lower power needs than the heavy FG (whether inflatable or not) versions. We run a 12' plywood skiff my father built 25 years ago. Two people can easily lift it (without the engine of course) and 15hp will give us a solid 20kn. Ours uses West Epoxy impregnated plywood (rather than a FG skin). I strip and re-epoxy every 5 years or so.

Thanks. This one has 25hp 2 stroke Mercury. I would rather have a 15. I would like to eventually trade to a traditional wood rowing skiff. We have some small park lakes close by that we could get more use out of one.

Looks good!

Maybe some day I'll get there. I need a 12 step program when it comes to boats under 16'. Had 6; got down to 3; back up to 4. My home insurance agent said, "how many?"
