Slow travel up stream

I’ve always had slow boats. In the years past I wondered how much effort coming back from down stream to the North Country would be. Is it a problem for anyone?

Going upstream the current is weakest near the bank and the inside of turns.

I generally enjoy slow travel up stream. Get in close to the bank with an eye on the depth. It's more interesting than going downstream IMO.
