Tried to contact this company to get new impeller, etc. Phone not answering. There is a web site. Address listed is at Sailors Exchange - a used marine equipment store. Anyone had any luck?

Hope there is support for this product since there is one installed in our new boat. Will be following this with interest.

I ordered two and what came were basically Jabsco impellors. I don't have the model. I've since replaced mine with a Reverso.

Take the impeller up to WM. The have a counter top display mat..... just lay the existing impeller on the mat and match it.

For some unknown reason they don't seem to answer the phone number in the website. I emailed them and they sent me this number to call and ask for Linda: 904-808-0667

Having said that, I had already ordered from an online site (can't remember which one) as the impeller is a pretty standard item.

As I have said before here, I fought those faulty impellers for years on two boats having to replace the impeller before/during each oil change. Others have said they did not have such issues, but I did. A Marco M164-220-12 gear pump was the perfect fix. Pumps all day every day!

My X-Change-R was working perfectly, that is until I read your post on this subject. I think you jinxed me, because it stopped working about a month later. I ended up just changing out the impeller but if it craps out again in less than 3 or 4 years I just might do the same thing.

I used one of their pumps for almost 20 years and the original impeller was still working fine.

Sorry! :whistling:

I have been using these things since around 1987. Great concept. In my sorry case, no impeller, I repeat, no impeller survived two oil changes in my two boats. I think my gear pump will be in my will!

You were unbelievably lucky!

Maybe. But the vast majority of the time the oil was not “hot”. Sometimes just a little warm and sometimes cold.
And it never ran dry.
I always had a hose from the bottom of the oil pan to suck out of.

Our Oil-X-Chang-R model -- 950, something like that -- had metal impellers. Never needed changing.

I used mine under the exact same conditions, well, never cold. Unbelievably unlucky, I guess.

I think you should include me in that will!

OK. Which lump of coal for you?

The Reverso system (oil change) and (fuel polishing) use vane pump with replaceable vanes and springs.

Why did you replace it?

It leaked both oil out and I suspect a bit of an air leak that impacted performance. I tried to fix the leak a few times, but it was in an ackward spot. I needed to remove it, then disassemble it. You can't really see where the leak is coming from when it's on a bench. I re-installed all of the fittings, and anything else on there (it's not like there's a lot too it). Nothing ever worked.

I gave up and replaced it with a Reverso. Metal gear pump should be more reliable than a rubber impellor.

Amen. I am here to prove that point with mine! And it looks like it passes to garmstro upon my demise. :)

My XChangeR Model 946D (Triple Port, connected to 2 Engines, Generator) pump slowed and sounded off.
Same experience = manf does not respond to service issues.

Another boater suggested: https://www.ebay.com/itm/131844621422?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Perfect fit. Reasonable install (boat yoga).
The old impeller had thrown 1 vane.
I use XChangeR to drain; I fill pouring from above - reduces old oil in the XchangeR from returning to engine. Prolly extends impeller life. Not difficult....

I just went through this! Reverso uses the same Pump in some of their models. Call them and tell them which Xchanger you have and they have the impeller kits.

Impeller part number

As suggested by Knot Fast a two pack on eBay is around 15 bucks. That’s what I went with and it’s worked fine for the last year or so over about six oil changed on the Loop.

Hello. I have a Mainship, too. I need to replace the original x-change-r impeller (2002) and I wonder if you remember the make or model number of the replacement impeller you used.

I have a Mainship 390 2002 and need to replace the XchangeR impeller, too. My model XchangeR is 946D, which has support for port, starboard and a generator. I have twin engines. Does you have twins or single engine?

I'm Wondering if its the same model.

I ended ordering from Defender and, as it turns, out, X-Changer used the same pump and impeller as Reverso.

All I can say is reread post #7 if you want to forever quit complaining about this system.

But I’m still in your will for your modified X-Changer, right?

Yes you are, but you could avoid a LOOOOONG wait if you'd just spring for the gear pump. :)

Are you saying that you replaced the pump in the Xchanger with this pump?
