Getting a stern thruster prop to fit

Called vetus. Ordered the prop set they told me to. Got it. Foolishly did not check the size. Painted then tried to install. Prop was maybe 0.3 inch too big in diameter. Si figured out a way to get it to fit.

Yes, that works. Have seen propellers cut down in similar fashion on a lathe. A little more dressing is required after the diameter is correct.

May I ask what additional dressing? Just curious.

Both the leading and following edges of each blade end up with corners (points) from cutting the diameter down. Those get rounded. The ones I've seen done only lost an inch or so off the diameter. Don't know if thinning the outer edge of the blade is required if you reduce the diameter by more.
