    Heat pump combo washer/dryer

I believe many here are confusing " traditional ventless" dryers and heat pump dryers. The new combo heat pump dryers cost around $ 2600.00+. The $ 1500.00 LG unit isn't a heat pump. Heat pumps typically use around 1/3 the energy of resistance heat. The idea of a heat pump dryer is solid as...

    Columbia River Boaters -Questions

We took our 50' trawler as far up the Columbia and Snake as Fishook Park. It is interesting above Portland, weather can get really treacherous at times as the wind can HOWL until you get to Umatilla. We spent a couple months exploring and water skiing ( we towed our comp ski boat for a lot of...

    Do I need Windshield wipers?

Our old boat had vertical pilothouse windows. I kept the windows clean and typically applied rainX two of three times a year. It had no wipers and I never missed them. The key is to keep them clean, no water spots or dirt and rainx. Ran in mist, fog, light rain, spray, day and night. I think the...

    Aging

One of my closest friends celebrated his 70th Birthday 150 miles North of the Aleutians while double handing his sailboat non stop From Tokyo to Dutch Harbor. They had finished a Circumnavigation in their early 60's. He was planning to do another big Pacific voyage, when at 79 he died of an...

    Aging

My philosophy is go balls to the wall until I cant. I still snowboard, adventure tour motorcycles, ride dirt bikes, scuba dive, run the course waterskiing. My body at times complains from all the old trauma, so far all I have given up is running as I am trying to get a few more years out of a...

US Couple in Caribbean feared dead

JKlotz, unfortunately its not a one off incident, and its hollow to say " they died doing something the loved". It just plain sucks. The Caribbean has a long history of brutality and theft, both petty and violent. Just look at the news of Haiti right now, people who have less will always take...

    Nordhavn 46 operating experience

I've done the Baja bash and the wing wasn't used for powering the boat one bit. Most nordhavn wings die of little vs. overuse. The 46 is a great boat, super comfy, sips fuel , rides good. Built well. Most have been updated over the years, some well done ..some not. Hollywood

    Interesting boats

I drive past her every day and wondered what the odd little boat was about. They obviously used her well, shes a rather squat odd looking vessel sitting on the hard. Hollywood

    Lower unit thief

I guess if I owned those units I would accept the fact they need to be cleaned more often and just leave the drives down in the water. Funny irony that you will replace drives more often left out of the water than in. Hollywood

    Steel boat bilge drying?

Get a better dehumidifier, one designed for a crawlspace. Heat will make it worse. Warm air holds a lot more water than cold air. You can get a commercial dehumidifier that pumps itself out and will remove about 12 gallons ( yes 12 gallons!) a day for under $ 800.00 that will work fantastic and...

    Grounding Video

The initial contact of the prop looked to be with rock while spinning. Could be the struts and rudders were on rock and not sand. Either way it doesn't really matter. It was going to hurt her getting bounced on the beach, most likely bulkhead damage from hull flex and other damage not initially...
