Our 1986 KK42 is has a leak and I think it is coming from the mast step. Anybody have experiance removing this mast base and base? Is it just the six bolts and cutting through some adhesive (3m 5200 or equal)? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Yes, just the six bolts. I'd remove the mast first. It looks like you have a enough slack in the wires to move the mast to the side. I used multiple wedges and lots of tape around the perimeter to protect the fiberglass. I replaced the plywood pieces under the mast pad since they were water soaked and soft. Marine plywood with the edges sealed with epoxy cut to fill the pad were epoxied into the base.. The roof isn't perfectly flat so I used thin HDPE pieces to shim the base. Any good polyurethane caulk will work. You don't need the strength of 5200 to re-caulk the base since you have 6 bolts. Good luck!
