I am attending the Looper Meeting in Norfolk/Portsmouth May 4-ll and need a Simrad savant to help me with the reversed image on my rear camera. I have exhausted every avenue, gone down every rabbit/menu hole, and can't do it. Simrad sent me an article requiring that I set up my own IP address, design my own microchip, etc. Do you know anyone in that area that is fluent in Simrad Evo 3?

Their support won’t talk you through it on the phone? They should.

They send links. The phone drives you to a chat which sends links. That seems to be customer service practice now to avoid having people on the phone

That is too bad. The last time I had an issue with my Raymarine equipment they sat on the phone and talked me through the problem.

We can hoist two sails on our boat, mizzen sail and a jib, together 12 square meters.The boat is 11 meters long and weighs 14 tons.It helps reduce rolling but to a limited extent.In a certain sea state it can help quite well, but it only takes a little change (worse) and it is nullified.In other words, the sail area is too small for the weight of the boat.

Greeting;

Pascal.

Huh??? Maybe wrong thread…

Was my experience too with Simrad. Incredibly long wait time to get through to a tech which means maddening delays for followup. The equipment is fine. Their support is lousy. Navico is on my list of "not recommended" vendors as a result.

I have had Raymarine on our last 4 boats and the support has been outstanding. They even replaced a DSM after 8 years since they had issues with them.

Could there be a setting in the camera? Maybe a dip switch? No brand name or model was mentioned.

Have you tried selecting the box for mirror image?

I have chased the Simrad menu down as far as I can--to the configure camera menu where it dead ends. I've tried through general settings and camera settings and have attempted to access the IP address of the camera. I've called every marine electronics service in Norfolk and surrounding area and no one works on Simrad. Average wait time for a person in customer service at Simrad is over 90 minutes. The camera model is Simrad IP CAM-1 POE IP Camera. Simrad emailed a link to an article which seems impossibly complicated. You disconnect the camera, attach it to an ethernet cable, build a new IP address on your computer, and so forth. Thanks for your help. It seems like I should be able to do it through a menu on the Simrad Evo3 helm setup but I can't.

IF the equipment works, Simrad is fine. If it doesn't, forget about getting the most rudimentary support from them. I initially installed all Simrad and would never, ever do so again.
