Hello,

I posted this over on Camano Pacific as well but this forum seems more active. We're looking for ideas for the space above our galley stove. I'm thinking some type of teak storage unit for mugs and glasses. Has anyone found a storage rack/cabinet/shelf that they like and that fits well in that area?

Thanks

How about a photo or two and measurements of the area?

We pulled out microwave

We used our microwave as a breadbox so pulled it out and put large basket in it's spot. We used basket for bread, cookies, chips. They don't slide off like they might on shelf. The wall behind stove gets splattered when cooking and I was too lazy to clean shelves there. We had #235

I put a clock there. Seems to be a good spot, and use it as a quick reference often. I only have a year on the boat, so its not set in stone yet lol.

We have a nautical clock and a barometer there but the clock stopped working. I'm thinking some more storage might be a good idea.

The only reason I would add something there is for quick access storage. Do you have a oven/cooktop ? or just a cooktop ? I have only a cooktop so I have quite a bit of storage where the oven would have been. Don't know if i'd ever use an oven. I pulled it out of my previous sailboat to make room for a fridge...cold beer. Next year I do plan to add a Yeti type cooler in the cockpit or under flybridge nav station for additional cold storage for week long trips. Even though the Yeti type is more expensive, will save me from getting more ice all the time.

Camano 31 Upgrades

We did three upgrades to the galley
The original micro is still there and used more for storage than anything.
we added
1) swing down knife rack below the micro box
2) 3 stepped plate racks of the port side of the micro box
3) extended the counter with a flip down/up extensions

I'll see if I can post the phots, if not email me or pm me and I will sent them
We had to redo/replace the salon table so reused the mahogany wood from that for these projects

BTW There is a very good FACEBOOK users group for the Camano31. Search for it.

I built a cabinet above the stove. For coffee, creamer, sugar, cooking oils, spices, etc.

I built it to match the rest of the cabinets using teak trim and plastic laminate.

I have photos but they are on my other PC and I am away from home for the rest of the week.

There is a pretty active "Camano Cruisers" group on Facebook. Join and ask there. Some of the members (including me) have made lots of modifications and additions.

We do have the oven. I don't know if we'll use it much. It came with a nice toaster oven too which we use most of the time. We love making pizzas at home so I could possibly see us using it for that.

Having the oven does take up quite a bit if storage space.

Yellow piper...those mods look great. Thanks.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Facebook group. I hadn't found that before.

Here is What I did

Boat came to me (3rd owner) with a cabinet that holds 4 place settings of plates, bowls, 4 16oz. stainless insulated coffee/etc., tumblers, additional paper plates, plastic cups, etc. Hook clasp keeps contents safe in beam and stern seas. I'll try to send a picture.

I have an oven, too, which I have not used in 5 years. But, I have used the stove top burners some. Microwave does a nice job on take out pizza, leftovers, etc. Toaster oven idea is a potential replacement for the microwave, unlikely to carry both.
Replacing the oven/stove with just stove top burners and storage underneath is on the list of eventual enhancements.

Sorry...was posting for other Camano owners but would love others' opinions as well.

I don't have a pic at the moment but it's basically a 16"x16" space above the stove.

This link may work for a similar boat... Camano Troll
What's the story with those overhead lights? I've been looking for replacements but those look like mods to the existing base.
