We replaced ours years ago. My friends 40’ mainship overcooked his batteries and another friends Mainship 395 had one battery burst. I would junk it. Ended up buying a ProMariner 63140 ProNauticP Series 1240P 12-Volts 40-Amp Battery Charger. Amazon.com

We have the same Pro Nautic charger and rate it. The Charles is likely an old ferro resonant design, good in its day. A known battery "boiler" if left on continuously but a strong charger used when needed.

Agree. I like Promariner. Get rid of the Charles.
